WEEKEND PREVIEW 10/3 - 10/6
Friday 10/4
Slava // Eclectic // 11pm
Moscow-born, Chicago-raised, Brooklyn-based producer, Slava Balasanov, will play Eclectic this coming Friday. Slava aims to touch on every variation of the house genre as he infuses all of the genre's descendants into one unified whole. According to Pitchfork, Slava's music "starts in first-wave house and moves on through ghetto house, juke, and footwork, folding an entire evolutionary branch back in on itself in an atemporal collage of stuttering high-speed beats, raunchy vocal loops, and retro-ravey synths." Saarim '16 AKA DJ Rimjob will be opening. Cal says "This show will be the most fun experimental party you will ever attend." Find more info on the show here.
Saturday 10/5
Lust-Cats of the Gutters and Mannequin Pussy // Art House // 10pm
This toxic duo will make your hips shake and your ears ache. Hailing from Denver, CO, Lust Cats of the Gutters are a couple of perma-teenage gals who sing about escaping from monster dudes in cemeteries and why nothing cool happens on dates. Their overdriven licks will stick in your head like an infectious disease, eating away at your brain until you can do nothing but get up and THRASH. Check out their debut tape on bandcamp, released last year by Burger Records. Touring with them are Brooklyn's Mannequin Pussy, a fuzzily melodic result of a bunch of punks-turned-stoners. They kinda sound like what would happen if the Descendents were too high to play at their regular speed. This'll be the perfect show for anyone with an affinity for felines and/or female genitalia. So all you weirdos better come.
