Roomful of Teeth

CFA Performance, Crowell Concert Hall // Friday 8:00 PM

Facebook Event

The GRAMMY Award-winning vocal project Roomful of Teeth is dedicated to mining the expressive potential of the human voice. Through study with masters from vocal traditions the world over, the eight-voice ensemble has continually expanded its vocabulary of singing techniques. Since 2009, the group has forged a new repertoire without borders, collaborating with Rinde Eckert, Glenn Kotche, Toby Twining MA '06, and the Silk Road Ensemble, among other artists. Ensemble member Caroline Shaw received the Pulitzer Prize for Music for Partita for 8 Voices, and collaborated with Kanye West on her remix of “Say You Will.”

Bonanza (Saint Something & Badabing)

Music House // Saturday 10:00 PM

Facebook Event

This is Bonanza’s first show of the year! They played a stellar set at the MASH (Jeremy took the stage in a pikachu onesie, no shows allowed). Bonanza is Lily Landau on vocals and jammin guitar, Aïli Arakida on vocals and ethereal keys, Matthew Forker on ~lead guitar~, Jeremy Freeman on b-b-b-bass & Aj Girard rocking on the drums. They play music that feels like the sun is shining upon you, waves lapping at your toes and/or you're swimming against the current and aren't quite sure what just grabbed your ankle. Simultaneously dreamy & screamy poetic lyricism combined with multi-faced funk. I hear they might have a particularly *dreamy* cover in the works ;)

Saint Something is Anjali Desai ‘20 on vivacious vocals and baller bass, Ginger Hutchinson ‘20 on krazy keys, Carina Rosenbach ‘20 on that goodgood guitar, and Luisa Bryan ‘21 on dank drums. They’re the second band in this musical sandwich of a night, which makes them the meat or meat-substitute of this metaphor. That’s like the most important part of the sandwich. Otherwise, it’s just bread or like maybe a rolled up tortilla. But also you need good bread. Shoutout to bread. Carina Rosenbach is gluten-free.

Badabing is made up of three first-year students: Nick Cantrambone (guitar, vocals), Jamee Lockard (bass, vocals) and Charlie Kilgore (drums, guitar, vocals). Coming out for their live performance debut, Badabing will be showing off their self-proclaimed “chuggy, surfy tunes.” Forming out of a jam session, converting text groupchat name to band-name and recording two songs at Red Feather Studios before even deciding on said name, Badabing stylishly operates with an artful nonchalance, which will surely charm the audience while they jam out to their newly formed sound.
