DOwnTOwn Boys (+SLow Parade, PUHDERRIJERRE & SAD)

Fresh from Providence, Downtown Boys is a bi bilingual dance party. They play aggressive post-punk, but balance out their sound with uplifting, sweet saxophone. By blending Spanish and English with shrieking vocals, this group draws your attention to their lyrics while also showing off the variations and similarities between the languages. Listed under their genres is politics. Come lend your ears and release this week's frustrations.
Slow Parade is Wesleyan's finest post-noise, uneasy listening band. Their eerie vocals and guitar rifts initially make you believe you got off east, but once contrasted with abrupt, clamorous interruptions, you get to experience the satisfying commotion that is Slow Parade.
PUHDERRIJERREO still doesn't exist. "No frills no fangs no fun"
SAD stands for “socially awkward degenerates,” but don’t let their self-deprecation undersell their music. They describe themselves as a mixture of old school emo and new school post-rock. Previously described with words such as “despair, anguish, and agony,” Sad’s name says it all. Their music evokes the all too familiar melancholy feelings of being 16, but nothing that will prevent your joy of listening to them.

Screaming Females is a three-piece rock band from New Brunswick, NJ. The band is fronted by the kick-ass Marissa Paternoster, who was named "Best Guitarist in NYC (2015)” by the Village Voice and 77th Greatest Guitarist of All Time by Spin in 2012. (She shreds!!!!!!!) Marissa, King Mike, and Jarrett Dougherty have released 5 full length albums together and toured with Garage, Arctic Monkeys, Dinosaur Jr., and The Dead Weather. These guys are vets—they have ten years of touring experience under their belts and missing them at Wes this Friday could possibly be the biggest mistake of your life.
Hexes, witches, seances, and all, LVL UP masters weaving eerie undertones into honest lyrics and themes. Coming from the rising DIY and independent music community of Brooklyn, the four-piece band just released a new EP this past summer. Soaring guitars, steady basslines, and rumbling drums weave in and out with kind of whiny, but simultaneously melodic vocals, all of which combine to produce awesome build-ups and strong lead-outs that seem to have been put through a lo-fi filter. Tied into the cohesive instrumentals are nostalgic lyrics that evoke a sort of weird, endearing post-summer feeling that will have you fulfilled in all your melancholy, angsty rock dreams.
Do you find yourself jamming out to old Blink-182, Fall Out Boy and Green Day tunes? Come check out Dark Circles, a pop punk cover band consisting of Maya Stevens, Harim Jung, Delilah Seligman, and Chris Sailor, to quench your nostalgic thirst for mid-2000’s bliss.

DON FROOT (+ THE GOOD LONELY)

Don Froot don’t care that they’re from Middletown, CT. Their music is straight from the tropics, smashing hushed Spanish vocals with a band that could’ve supported George Duke. Come see them this Saturday at Alpha Delt for their first show of the semester, and first show with some new members. The show is also features some special guests (We can only hope Dan Froot will make an appearance.) And a Chance the Rapper cover may or may not be in your future.
Come a little early to see the power funk whiz kids of the class of 2019, the good lonely.
