Method Mag Presents: golden vibes beat coastal republic experience
Phatrabbit (+Jack and Eliza, DJ puff_mommy)

Alpha Delt Grotto // Friday 9:45 PM

Facebook Event

Phatrabbit are ecstatic to be playing their first cruise ship gig. At least that’s what the brochure seems to say: “Golden Vibes Beat Coastal…” Is there a 75 foot water slide? A 24-hour poolside alcoholic smoothie-bar? Boogie-board vending machine? Cute indie-boys playing honest pop? Let’s hope all of the above. Our dear friends over at Method are well versed in the lifestyle department, so this party will be sure to have you slap-dancing  in your flip-flops.

Eliza won the International John Lennon Songwriting when she was 15. What was Jack up to then? Probably chillin’. That must’ve been a big trophy. Or medal. Heavy metal? Nope. Jack and Eliza play feathery-light pop songs with, one might say, golden vibes. Beach Boy Brian Wilson will be the dad-aged dude chilling in a beer-sticky Grotto corner. Say hi to him, he’ll be feeling the vibes, but may be feeling a bit out of his element. He’s like 72.

DJ puff_mommy recently “thought 2 [herself] 'This is art' as [she] took pictures of [her] vagina with Photo Booth” *Pinned Tweet. The foremost question on her mind these days is how sperm banks keep the sperm alive–do they feed aquariums full of it? Her next cooking experiment will be frying food in the oil from people’s hair and faces. Maybe she’ll even try it at Alpha Delt while she spins some sweet club bangers!

Container (+Wilted Woman & L Lewis)

EARTH HOUSE // Friday 10 PM

Facebook Event

The year is 2131, you have just finished a long day working in Robot-Olin, the robot library at Robo-Wesleyan (a satellite campus). You hear a strange noise coming through a dorm window on the walk home. The bleak, distorted electronics appease your futuristic sensibilities. “QUARK ZOWP NININARG” you shout up (“What are those sweet tunes?”)
“It’s just Container” the motorized frosh replies.
“Word.”

Wilted Woman of Providence, RI pegs hirself as “industrial annoying bleep blop.” Whether you're annoyed is up to you, so fill your ears with sizzlingly sonic sand-bugs, hop on your throbbing techno hoverbike and bounce with it. It’ll probably sound more like “diverse rhythm sensibilities explored through slash and burn sonic palette recycling.”

L Lewis thinks the future is so much fun. Worms plastic earthbound and “Singular artistry. Pacing mastery, an astute focus on each piece of the puzzle. Lewis conjures minimalism and groove in a wash that is intoxicating and meditative. ‘The mixer is my modular.’”

Buddhist House Becomes a Gallery
Sex Panic! (+"Visual Art"  & "Live Jazz")

BuHo // Saturday 10 PM

Facebook Event

“Sex Panic!...is a sexual activism group founded in NYC in 1997. The group characterized itself as a ‘pro-queer, pro-feminist, anti-racist direct action group’ campaigning for sexual freedom in the age of AIDS” (Wikipedia). Sex Panic is also an international “experimental sound poetry group” all the way from Toronto who make sounds because you can ignore words, but you can’t ignore noises.

Busty and the Bass (+The Double Twins)

Art House //  Saturday 10 PM

Facebook Event

It’s Canada night on Wash. when our second gang of northern neighbors, Montreal-based Busty and the Bass, take the main stage. These “nine young men” collaborate to present a mix of “disco house beats, powerful horns, and soulful vocals.” They’re all different, they’re all upbeat guys, and they’re all ready to celebrate the Canadians finally conquering Middletown.

By now you’ve probably seen The Double Twins a few times, danced to them a few times, had fun with them a few times. Drums, synths, and guitars are a sure-fire way to have a rad Saturday night, so why not pop your head in at Art House and hang out with some newish old friends?

Love, strength, and solidarity.
