Weekend Preview 9/17 - 9/19
Aural Wes's first weekend preview of the semester: short, but oh so sweet like the dozens of cookies I baked for tomorrow's club fair. So come check us out and grab a cookie (or two)
CHEF (+MOM & LO-QI)
ART HOUSE // FRIDAY 9:00 PM
Lo-Qi is a socio-political junior rap duo from Somerville and Switzerland. I heard their MASH performance was hype, so they'll bring that same fiery energy to kick off your night.
Mom likes moms. And music. And they REALLY like Bruno Mars. (see MASH preview) They're pretty mom. But they're also pretty rock. And pretty funk. Mom is also a lot of fun, but not in the way your mom is fun. Their blended melodies are like ear candy and will "heat up the kitchen" for Chef's performance. http://momtheband.bandcamp.com/releases
After slaying at the MASH, Wes's 10 piece jazz-groove-soul-RnB-funk machine, Chef, is back this weekend to perform at artmuho. Imagine the best chilli you've ever had--warm, comforting, and well-balanced, but ~hot and spicy~ when you want it to be. That's Chef: providing you with a kick of flavor--a concoction of multiple sounds that are carefully crafted yet retain an organic and energetic appeal. Come prepared to dance, and come early.
BBYMUTHA (+MOMO & PARISHILTONDUBAI)
ECLECTIC // SATURDAY 10:30 PM
When we Google parishiltondubai (aka ps duba):

Momo is a talented, electronic music mixing wonder. V chill, but v danceable. Check it: soundcloud.com/muvvamomo
Hailing from Chattanooga, TN, bbymutha is quickly becoming a breakout rap artist within the underground LGBT music community. Marrying bouncy beats with cleverly written, and apologetically honest raps, bbymutha brings a refreshing, new sound to the hip-hop scene.
She has a sick blog, (themuthaboard.wordpress.com) where she answers many of her FAQ. My personal fav response is to the question "WHAT IS YOUR AESTHETIC?" Bbymuta responded "lmao i hate that word so fucking much. i dont have one! i just am who I am. i put on my rainbow weaves every morning and go do mom shit and make raps like… dassit. I don’t HAVE an aesthetic." She's a talented, single mother of four with a creative flow and perspective the music scene has been craving.
