Know what's good this weekend. Here's the Weekend Preview: Aural Wes's weekly serving of music happenings on campus. Wesleyan artists kick off the weekend with back to back intimate Earth House events and a Friday night Art House-opening showcase. Saturday's Planet Hip Hop Festival has afternoon workshops and an evening concert featuring Muslim women who are breaking new ground in the genre. "DMV-bred" emcee Goldlink heads to Psi U Saturday night and indie lo-fi Mount Eerie plays Sunday night in Memorial Chapel.

Preludes in Sculpture: An Installation by Sean Winnik
Earth House // Friday 5 PM - Sunday 5 PM
From Sean Winnick: Over the past 9 months I have devoted much of my time in the creation of the Preludes in Sculpture, a collection 6 (eventually 24) sound sculptures. The sculptures are accompanied by sonic works that are available for listening through the magical internet.
These works primarily examine the reduction of agency of a performer, and the necessary alteration upon objects due to time; to put it another way, they examine the subjectivity of items traditionally viewed as objects.
The sounds produced are not digital or analogue, but fully mechanical. The recordings bring to the audience a 'live' performance that exists on a time scale unattainable without recording.
Please bring headphones.
If you do not have an mp3 player or headphones, some will be supplied at the space.

FB: 11am to 5pm workshops in World Music Hall: $12 per workshop, or $30 for all three workshops. Workshops are free for Wesleyan students. Lunch provided for participants.
9pm concert in Fayerweather Beckham Hall: $18 general public; $15 senior citizens, Wesleyan faculty/staff/alumni, non-Wesleyan students; $6 Wesleyan students.

The Planet Hip Hop Festival features international Muslim women in hip hop and includes afternoon workshops and evening performances by London's spoken-word duo Poetic Pilgrimage, the U.S. debut of Montreal-based Algerian singer-songwriter and rapper Meryem Saci as a solo artist, and the New England debut of Washington, D.C.-based and Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter, poet, and emcee Maimouna Youssef a.k.a. Mumu Fresh as a solo artist. Using hip hop as a platform to explore issues of social importance—faith, peace, unity, social justice—educate individuals, and inspire change, the evening concert will also feature the Nomadic Wax Collective, a live backing band that will include bass, drums, keys, guitar, and a DJ.
First Little Show of the Fall

FB: Little Shows are a close-quarters, focused, (primarily) musical experience. They were created because I felt that I had no venue to perform my music, and believed that there must be others who similarly had no venue. I have been wonderfully surprised by how many beautiful, extremely personal acts exist solely within people's bedrooms.

Psi U // Saturday 10 PM
GoldLink’s sound doesn’t throw it all the way back to the boom-bap, New York style, nor is it entirely a product of digital production. Instead, the music mixes the buttery grooves of 90’s R&B with classic hip-hop breaks to give it an essence of nostalgia, and then turns on its head with bouncy, forward-thinking production style led by the likes of Ta-Ku and Kaytranda. Add that to GoldLink’s ability to fill every pocket of the dynamic instrumentals he tackles with a roller-coaster delivery, and suddenly your head is bobbing to the self-proclaimed “future-bounce” genre.
Mount Eerie

Mount Eerie is an Anacortes, Washington-based band fronted by Phil Elverum. Elverum is the principal member of the band, but he has collaborated with many other musicians on his records.
