You're not sure of yourself. "Is that...?" you ask yourself. You continue walking. It's definitely them. Wait, no? I swear I've seen them wearing that jacket before. Has their hair always looked like that? You're within distance to the point where you can see their face, but you can't really make it out. Damn it. Still can't tell. But, they're not waving. Must not know you, right? You continue walking. Oh, God it is them. It's definitely them. It's so over. They still haven't made a move. You're about to pass each other. You flick your hand in a gesture that signifies "Hey. I acknowledge you. I see you". They do the same. You pass each other. You both continue walking. You do not pass this person on campus the next day. For that, you are grateful.
