GUERILLA TOSS (+ SHY BOYZ)

ART HOUSE // THURSDAY 9 PM

Facebook event

Guerilla Toss are going kick off a coup d’état in your brain. They play psychedelic punk with the thrashing intensity of a musical woodchipper gone sentient, berserkly-sentient. They know exactly what they're doing, it seems, but it's absolutely crazy…. This may sound chaotic, and it is, but GT's μsic is rooted bass-thwap'n guitar-licking funky funk. It's got groove. It'll get you dancing like a primate.

Shy Boyz graduated from the prestigious Wharton School of Business and are building their international μsic empire with the spunk and violence that only incredibly funk-versed manbabies clad in neon spandex can muster. They're a force of nature. Peruse their world at www.shyboyz.net.

THE GENERAL SECRETARY AND I

WESTCO & 200 CHURCH // THURS., FRI., SAT.

Facebook event

For years, General Secretary Joseph Stalin was able to balance it all: being an awesome dictator, pulling funny pranks, being a "silly dad." But now, with Sarah Silverman maybe visiting his summer home next weekend, Stal must swallow his pride and hire a governess to help wrangle his six healthy teenagers. He hires Magnolia, an American tourist, but she turns out to be crazy and in love with him! Meanwhile, the teenagers face problems ranging from environmental activism to being a goth.

Come see Aural Wes's first ever presented musical on Thursday, WestCo Lounge 8pm or Friday, 200 Church 8pm, or Saturday, 200 Church 6pm (or any combination of the two - or all three).

LAST CALL CONCERT
Chef (+Overcoats, Rhys Langston, Jyr,
G and Pierre, & We didn't have Dinner)

ART HOUSE // FRIDAY 9:30 PM

Facebook event

The "~Last Call~" Art House concert special asks, "When did it become May? Will you finish your finals in time?? Did you figure out your plans for the summer of your life yet???" To quell these worrisome questions, it seems like the event's asking you to come to Art House. In order of appearance, the lineup includes:

We Didn't Have Dinner, Miranda Haymon & Arianna Nasseri '16 who will be performing their first ever time;
G and Pierre, a Mysterious Duo;
Jyr, who will hopefully unveil some of the mystery surrounding their Soundcloud booming psych-pop "tease";
Rhys Langston, builder of staggering lyrical card castles full of words bumping, jumping and jumbling off of one another to resonate with a hint of immediate coherence that flaunts itself as just the tip of the iceberg which begs you to follow this its poetry over raw, crackling-fresh beats to find something profound in the fractal-syntactical depths;
Overcoats, who, after last weekend’s winning performance at the Battle of the Bands, is back to warm your soul with captivating harmonies and their unique and enchanting “folk-electro-soul” sound; and
Chef, the big, boisterous, bubbling, beefy, sizzling, flip-flop frying funky RnB tunes right off the secret menu that you never thought you needed to enjoy a nice weekend meal with friends but in fact, you realize you've been missing all along. Think Mongolian Grill but 1000x the fried noodles and 100000x the μsic. Better yet, Chef will be releasing their first single at this concert.

TITUS ANDRONICUS (+ FIVE GUYS)

ECLECTIC // FRIDAY 10 PM

Facebook Event

Titus Andronicus play “indie/punk” rock μsic, but their sound is multi-dimensional. Loud and unapologetic, their μsic is the kind that your mom screams at you from the kitchen to turn down. Titus’s “plug-in-and-play” style has received lots of praise from critics, and has even granted the band a spot on Pitchfork’s list of the top 100 albums of the decade (thus far). Which is pretty cool. They’re known for hype performances, Shakespeare, and maybe a Nirvana cover or two. Come check out these Jersey boys this weekend and release your pre-finals angst.

Post Malone rhymes with bologna? Nah, truth is that sliced meat was the coolest thing since this guy, with bread in hot pursuit. Forget the meat/bread timeline, this guy's about shoot through the roof, so know that you saw him first - his timeline is about to blast into the stratosphere. Hazy-feely-hype post-Drake hip-hop get ready.

ZACHARY KANTOR'S SENIOR RECITAL

MEMORIAL CHAPEL // SATURDAY 9 PM

Facebook event

Muted marble swirls. Minimalist monochrome. Trendy-indented sans-serif. Punctuation appropriated as post-internet aesthetic ornamentation. Dude's got style. Great μsic too. The Jetsons playing pop music, but way cooler than Mom or Dad could ever imagine. Let this tropical, platinum-fruit BEAMS boy take you somewhere sunny with hovercars and Amazon Prime for everyone on Earth.
