AURALWEST: A BAND CALLED DEATH
Have you ever heard of Death?
Well if you haven't you're a little late. Only by about 40 years though. You can cut yourself some slack because you're not alone. Death was a band composed of three black brothers in early 70s Detroit. They formed after seeing an Alice Cooper show and were way ahead of their time. They refused to play the motown that was expected of them and rather opted for a style that 10 years later would become known as punk. No one would sign them and they fizzled out. Recently they were the focus of critically acclaimed documentary "A Band Called Death". Well... Death is back from the dead and they're here to fucking rock out. This Thursday they will be playing a free show at Amoeba Music. Show starts at 6:30, but I'd get there at 5. The documentary will screen at the Cinefamily on Fairfax June 28th thru July 4th.
