A Quick Update (August 2022)

i think that’s Foss Hill but i’m not sure. someone confirm please

Good evening (in Pacific time)! It’s been a while since the blog side of Aural Wes has been updated – almost 8 months – so let’s catch up.

My name is Max, and I’m the current primary contact for Aural Wes. I made those fancy Weekend Preview graphics that dotted the Instagram page this past April and May. Joining me is financial manager Cassandra & event coordinators Nathan and Terry - we’re all new to running the blog, so as we continue to learn Squarespace, we’d like to update you on what we’ve done (and our current plans for world domination) so far.

  • We have a new domain: auralwes.com. You’ve probably heard about it. You’re probably using it. The original .org address got taken by a travel-fancying squatter, so we had to settle for the next best thing (it’s more like an equal-best thing, but that doesn’t roll off the tongue very well).

  • We’re officially on Spotify! This account will be the place for all official playlists going forward, ranging from the inescapable year-end review cycle to whatever we’re enjoying each month.

  • Aural Wes has a brand new on-campus artist page, available here! We’re currently looking for active Wesleyan artists to pad out the gallery - if you’re a performer here on campus (or if you know one), then let us know via our social media DMs or our email inbox at teamauralwes@gmail.com. We’ll give you instructions from there!

Our plan for the coming semester is to rebuild the blog, so with that in mind, we will be looking for writers. We’ve been talking about writing smaller articles about our favorite music just so we can fluff up the archive before the start of the 2023 school year, but by-and-large, we’re looking for anyone who’s interested in music journalism. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been here before, if you’ve never heard of the blog, or if you were completely unaware that music journalism was a thing (jealous) - the only requirement for writing at Aural Wes next semester is that you currently go to Wesleyan. We want the blog to be an outlet for the entire university, and we’ll need your help to make that happen! We’ll start recruiting at the club fair when the year starts, but if you’re curious about the blog right now, drop us a line by emailing us at teamauralwes@gmail.com or by reaching out on Instagram, Twitter, etc - all our profiles are neatly organized at linktr.ee/auralwes.

See you soon!
