Thursday

Diarrhea Planet, The Lovely Bad Things, Let's Party Hats! Hats! Hats! // Eclectic // 10 PM

When these Nashville guitar titans last came to Wesleyan, their show was memorably out-of-this-world. Emergency rooms and very real bowel explosions were involved. Diarrhea Planet's most recent Connecticut show last Spring featured guitar solos on moving skateboards. Needless to say, this is going to be a wild one, folks. According to Pitchfork, "if Diarrhea Planet are playing within a 100-mile radius of where you are sitting, go there. " SO FUCKING GO. Similarly inclined Orange County garage poppers The Lovely Bad Things will be opening, as well as campus favorites Let's Party Hats! Hats! Hats! fresh off the release of their debut EP. Friday

Speedy Ortiz, Ryan Power, Neo Sora // Eclectic // 10 PM

Clearly a product of the 90s indie rock scene, with guitars loudly crunching and souls totally bared, Speedy Ortiz, sonically, fall somewhere between Sonic Youth and fellow Massachusetts icons Dinosaur Jr. There's an emphasis on lyrics and personality in the band's music that simply isn't seen in most bands these days, a product I'm sure of singer Sadie Dupuis' formal education and masters in poetry. Their debut LP Major Arcana  has been widely hailed as one of the year's best releases, so come check out this worthy and wonderful band before it's too expensive do do so! Opening will be Vermont pop weirdo extraordinaire Ryan Power and Neo Sora. More info here.

The Rooks, Sky Bars, Don Froot // Alpha Delt // 9:30 PM

Soul, funk, R&B grad band The Rooks return to Wesleyan yet again after graduating in 2012. According to their facebook page, the band draws "from an eclectic catalogue of influences, from the melodic depth of Stevie Wonder, to the staggered hip-hop backbeats of J Dilla, to the vocal intricacies of the Dirty Projectors, The Rooks are creating a sound that you probably haven’t heard before; but somehow, it still feels like home."  Opening will be smooth wes favorites Sky Bars and Don Froot. More info here.

Little Show at Club 231 // 231A Pine St // 7:30 PM

A little more space, a twice as many couches, and all the good people. Come to 231A Pine for a cozy, early, friendly show. You shan't regret it. More info here.

Saturday

CPE Charity Concert // Psi U // 10 PM // $3

The Wesleyan Center for Prison Education is hosting a benefit this weekend for their wonderful and integral charity. Organizer and local philanthropist David Whitney '16 describes the event as follows: "Four funky bands want you to DANCE YRSELF (to a) CLEAN (record). Come think about mass incarceration while you're dancing. Come think about educating prisoners while you're dancing. Come think about the prison industrial complex while you're dancing." Playing will be Sky Bars, Honeylung, Don Froot, and Ari & Arian. More info here.
