Weekend Preview 1/28 - 1/30

Blast off into the semester atop a cooing,  ironclad avian of freaky calm avant-folk. Then find the Pangolin at Pine Palace (it's been there all along). Finally, rip your face off and sit in a corner, soaking all the pop music in.
It's great to be back. We missed you.
The first Aural Wes meeting will be next week, so keep your ears to the floor, or our Twitter.

Powerdove
+Plein Air, Pderrijerreo & Hannah Judd

Chapel // Friday 9:30 PM

Facebook event

Powerdove is abstract folk that's crystal clear but scrawls, doodles on all the walls. Annie Lewandowski, John Dieterich, and Thomas Bonvalet construct songs that are at one moment meandering acoustic slowcore, sparse and pretty poetry, but yawning chasms of avant-garde acoustic screams the next. Tapping, scratching, clapping at their instruments, these Ithaca sound explorers will not leave you napping.

Plein Air  hail from Providence, RI.  In light of this, let's "imagine a universe." So...
"Imagine a universe just like ours, call it unixerse, except buddy holly survived and discovered in 1981 his true passion: German lieder played on mid-century moog equipment under the supervision of an exquisitely coiffed, cigar smoking Brian Eno."
... make sure to bring you highlighter and give these enticing references a good close-read as you listen to Plein Air and think of this puffing Eno fan-man:

Pderrijerreo are musical mavericks. They're hard on the eyes, hard on the ears, easy on your lips, melt in your hand, but not your mouth. They hail from Home Ave.

Hannah Judd's songs are ethereal, cello-washed meanderings in the poetry of love and flickering campfires. Word is she shreds.

Wesleyan DJs & Producers Club at Pine Palace

Pine Palace // [POSTPONED]

This [would have been]  the night you spidy-climb the palace's walls with your beer shoes. They're adhesive!  Stick to what you know, maybe someone you know, or someone you don'tmake a friend with your beer. Dance!

Double Twins
+Dark Circles & Evil Deceiver

Earth House // Saturday 9:30 PM

The Double Twins are Matan KG ('15) and crew. These animals were once blood spattered nurses, [or hospital patients, perhaps they were operating on themselves]. They'll spit chunky electro dance-rock at you. It will be super effective! They've covered LCD Soundsystem to epiphanic effect, so wear your gym shorts, definitely, and your splatter guard, maybe.

Dark Circles are pop-punk cover machine Maya Stevens ('17), Harim Jung ('16), Delilah Seligman Cervantes ('16), and Chris Sailor ('16).

Evil Deceiver sound heavy, like finals week. Maybe they're not, turn up and find out.

Mosh hard, mosh smart. Respect spaces and bodies. Rip your face off.
