ICEAGE

This Danish punk band is not too heavy, nor too light. They're just right. Whatever I mean by that. Anyway, Iceage is a relatively young band, not only in band age sense — no one's over 21. And you can hear and see their youthful aggression in all its glory the night of the first day of classes. More after the jump! The band's sophomore release, You're Nothing, drops on 2/19. Lead singer Elias Rønnenfelt said in an interview that the title is not so much directed at others, "but more [about] how you can feel about yourself sometimes." He even cited Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness as inspiring (that was all I needed to hear). With that being said, the album is supposed to be more emotionally raw and varied than the band's debut, which is only 24 minutes but it certainly is filled with relentless youth hostility.

A couple of Wes bands will be opening for this one, Slasher Roth, Bakshi, and Let's Party Hats! Hats! Hats! all performing short sets, with Iceage going on promptly at 11:15pm since this has to end at midnight. Otherwise Cinderella won't get home on time and PSafe will not be happy.

Come celebrate your return to Wes with some moshing (or stand on the side, if you please) at Eclectic. 10:30pm.
