I watched his video with a smile on my face, and can't help but do the same every time I watch it. It's Don. DonChristian graduated from Wes in 2012 and things haven't been the same. He is one of the most sincere and kind people I know, and I know a lot of people would agree with me. He's instantly lovable. It's kind of weird… So seeing him on a pink floatie in the pool, playing tennis, or even standing around in the video for his first single, "My Crew," is more than enjoyable. I just wanted to squish him.
Before I truly begin, "All Your Gold" has drawn comparisons to Gotye's "Somebody that I Used Know," and besides the minimal guitar line in the beginning, I don't really know what to say. I don't know the lyrics, except for the part that is the song title. And I'm not going to listen to that song, even for the sake of journalism. Sorry y'all. I'd prefer to decrease any possibility of it getting stuck in my head and this is about Bat for Lashes, anyway.
I haven't been really into a Kanye West album since Graduation dropped, and wasn't sure what to expect. I was excited to hear the production when I saw that Arca, Daft Punk, and Hudson Mohawke helped out, and I knew that I can usually count on West to have good production anyway. Being a producer is actually where he got his start! At one point in my life, I really thought of Mr. West as a great hip-hop artist. But the only things that come to mind when I think of contemporary Kanye is his arrogance, that weird outfit he wore, and Kim Kardashian. Sure, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy was good, but I didn't really get into it. I never really listened to it on my own, I just heard it everywhere I went for a while.
Featuring a few of the leading men from the decade, dramatic statements, and at least one song that you better know.
A couple of nights ago, I found out about a radio function on VLC while I was with some friends. You might've heard of VLC — it's a program that allows you play videos in formats that QuickTime (and probably the Windows Media Player?) don't recognize, to play .flac files, and whatever else it can do. It also has the Icecast Radio Directory which has hundreds of radio stations to choose from.
Lately, I've been listening to these songs quite a bit and I figured I'd share them with you all, our loyal followers. Kingdom - Stalker Ha
Widowspeak is coming down from Brooklyn this Saturday to play some tunes.
Come celebrate your return to Wes with some moshing (or stand on the side, if you please) at Eclectic. 10:30pm.
