Lately, I've been listening to these songs quite a bit and I figured I'd share them with you all, our loyal followers. Kingdom - Stalker Ha
One of the constantly repeated vocal samples in this song is a trigger for energy for me (the "fuh" or whatever the sound is that follows the "ooohhh yeayeah" part, at least in the beginning). I imagine myself swiftly extending my right arm to karate chop someone. I suppose I could actually say that the whole song triggers me, energy-wise. The drums are reminiscent of some great dancehall tracks and push my body to keep dancing, and to dance harder. Kingdom is also incredible live, catch him if you get the chance.
Organic sounding drums on a pretty electronic track.... now that's something I can't really deny, I don't know about you... It's also got a lil trip hop feel. Just listen.
I read an interview with Logan from Teengirl Fantasy and he said he was stuck on Arca's Stretch 2, so I downloaded it and found lots of dis-jointed and weird "hip hop" songs that are beat-oriented/have weird vocals that are pretty hard to understand. Some of the songs on the release remind me of Shabazz Palaces, this being one of them.
In a previous post from almost a year ago, I wrote a bit about how much I love "Disintegration" by the Cure, and now I'm going to write about this acoustic version of "Let's Go to Bed." First of all, acoustic versions of songs by the Cure are for the most part good and funny. The acoustic versions can make the songs seem a little less heavy, which offers a nice alternative for your mood. And Robert Smith likes to go, "owww!" or make a kissing sound or make other weird sounds on these versions. Nice.
